EMS

Board

TINA GREINER , PRESIDENT
Jefferson Rural Fire Protection District

Tina joined Jefferson Fire District in March, 1997 as the first support team member in an effort to "help out the guys" with nourishment while on extended fire scenes. Once she finished First Responder training she began responding as a member of the Quick Response Team, then soon joined the recruit academy--again to "help out the guys". She never dreamed she would enjoy fighting fire so much. The thought of entering a burning building had never even crossed her mind until that academy. Once obtaining her EMT Basic, she began responding with the newly-formed ambulance squad and a love for EMS developed. After responding to one particularly horrific motor vehicle crash, she decided she needed to become a paramedic.  She was soon enrolled fulltime at Chemeketa Community College and earned an Associate Degree EMT-Paramedic, December 2003.

In addition to volunteering in Jefferson and working parttime on their ambulance, Tina also works for the Scio Rural Fire District as the administrative clerk and volunteer EMT, as well as working parttime for a private ambulance company in Woodburn. Tina and her family have lived in Jefferson since October, 1992.

DAVID BUTLER , 1ST VICE PRESIDENT

David was a Director with the OVFA for two years before being elected to the 2nd VP position. He is a security director with the Sweet Home Rodeo and is currently the President of the Lebanon Volunteer Firefighters Association. He is married to Anita, his wife of 18 years who supports him in his volunteer activities. Together they have three teenage boys. David has made a number of new friends in his role of OVFA Director and looks forward to meeting more in the upcoming years.

SCOTT MULLEN, 2ND VICE PRESIDENT

Scott is a lieutenant/training officer with Lyons FD. Lyons RFPD is located 20 miles east of Salem on Hwy 22.  Lyons RFPD covers 47 square miles, providing fire suppression and ALS transport service from Lyons to the top of Santiam Pass.

In 2004, Scott earned a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration from Madison University. Prior to moving to the Salem area, he was employed as a facilities manager for 13 years in the healthcare/hospital setting. Scott is employed fulltime as a Firefighter/EMT at Stayton Fire District in Stayton, Oregon.

Scott felt that by joining the OVFA Board he could give more representation to his surrounding fire districts as well as the others and get more participation from them. He believes that what we do as volunteer firefighters is very important and having an organization like the OVFA represent us on all levels is vital to our success. Because of the strong belief Scott has as a volunteer, he wanted to get more involved and try and make life better for firefighters/EMT's that serve our communities.

Scott enjoys outdoor sports, with an emphasis on backcountry skiing. He has three grown children and is engaged to be married.

JAMES OEDER,
SECRETARY/TREASURER

Jim served two terms as President of the OVFA. He is the Senior Captain with Lebanon Fire District and has 23 years of service at Lebanon with his family having over 100 years of service to the District. He is married with two children and a grandson. He is employed by Linn Gear Company as a machinist. Jim's goals are to have every volunteer department and volunteer ambulance service as a member to help support them.

REX PARKS, DIRECTOR #1

Rex is a volunteer Captain with Cloverdale (not the one on the coast) RFPD. Located in the center of the “Golden Triangle” between Bend, Sisters and Redmond, the Cloverdale community covers 40 square miles of farm, ranch and agricultural lands. The district has approximately 1500 single-family homes with about 3500 full time residences and is still growing, as are most of the areas in Central Oregon.

Rex has been employed with ODOT as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic since 1988 starting in the Bend equipment shop before moving on to his current position as the Field Mechanic for the Santiam Junction and Detroit maintenance areas. He had been the SEIU/OPEU union shop steward while in the Bend equipment shop, and now for the Santiam Junction and Detroit crews.

Hunting being another of his passions, Rex has served as an executive officer in the Bend chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association.

Rex was introduced to the OVFA when the annual conference was held in Bend in 1998. He has been a regular attendee every since. Taking classes to move him from firefighter and apparatus operator to company officer, the OVFA’s annual conference, local training and the National Fire Academy, have all been a vital part of his training curriculum.

In 2002 while at the conference in Coos Bay, Rex was asked and chose to become a part of the ambassador program. With support from Vickie, his wife of 33 years, he finally took the plunge, ran for and was elected to a director position in 2007. Vickie stated that she knew she would still see him on at least one weekend a month, during his duty officer coverage.

Rex and Vickie have a son who lives in Redmond and works for ODOT at Santiam Junction, a daughter who lives and works in Portland, and 4 grandchildren.

KOUROSH MODJTABAI, DIRECTOR #2

I have been a volunteer F.F. with Boring Fire District for the last 13 years. I have to say that I am amazed of meeting so many generous, caring, passionate and amazing people through these years which makes me believe in volunteerism even more. We keep reading and hearing the phrase that” we can't find volunteers” and that is furthest from the truth. I know and believe in the fact that if we treat our people with respect and give them recognition when due, we will have waiting list of good and honorable individuals who would want to join our family. I would like to take this time and thank you for the trust that you have given me to be your representative and voice on OVFA Board. I will pledge to you that I will honor your trust and do my best to see that your concerns and needs are heard and answered. Thank you        Kourosh Modjtabai
